Moonshots and Machines

On October 12, Veuve Clicquot invited guests to the James-Simon-Galerie in Berlin for the Bold Woman Award.

The venue set the tone, and so did the company it drew: a thoughtfully curated guest list, exceptional food, and Champagne from a house that has always stood for one remarkable businesswoman. What I enjoyed most were the conversations, with people who had far more to tell than an evening like this usually suggests.

The ceremony itself moved me most. Linda Zervakis hosted with her signature warmth. The nominees alone were extraordinary, each with her own story, her own ideas, and a real passion for what she does, and a high-caliber jury underscored what this award means. Watching the suspense, the joy, and the emotion play out on stage was a pleasure.

Two remarkable entrepreneurs took home the night's honors. Irene Selvanathan, founder of NEUROSPACE, received the Bold Woman Award. Her company develops technology for exploring the Moon. Dr. Lena-Marie Pätzmann was honored with the Bold Future Award for SITEGEIST ROBOTICS, which builds AI-powered robots for the construction industry. Both left a lasting impression on me, for what they have built and for the personal commitment behind it.

Veuve Clicquot has been recognizing women entrepreneurs who forge their own path since 1972. On this evening, the stories of the nominees and winners gave that mission a very personal face.

Away from the stage, the night was full of good conversation, familiar faces, and new acquaintances. The guest list was spot-on, and I was delighted by so many of the encounters.

My special thanks go to Christine Bücken and Kerstin Schilly of LA MAISON Victor • Schilly & Friends. You created a truly memorable evening, with great attention to every guest and an unerring sense for the right setting. Thank you for the invitation. It was a night in Berlin I thoroughly enjoyed.
