A Voice of Humanity & Dialogue

In a time when the world seems increasingly divided, a voice emerges that builds bridges and inspires reflection: Margot Friedländer. At 103 years old, she is not only one of the last living witnesses of a dark era but also an impressive pub- lic figure whose presence and message continue to inspire.

FROM BERLIN TO THE WORLD – AND BACK

Margot Friedländer is a woman who embraces life – everything it brings. Born in Berlin in 1921, she grew up in a city full of contrasts, constantly changing. Her childhood was shaped by culture, community, and a deep sense of solidarity.

As the world around her darkened, she demonstrated extraordinary resilience. She learned to adapt, to keep moving forward, and above all, to never lose her faith in the good.

After spending years in the United States, she returned to Berlin in 2010 – a city that was part of her story and to which she wanted to add a new chapter. She did not return with bitterness, but with a message: There is always a way to build bridges, as long as we are willing to listen. Her goal was never to dwell on the past but to shape the future – and that is precisely what she continues to do.

AN UNEXPECTED MOMENT OF RECOGNITION

In recent years, Margot Friedländer has become a remarkable public figure. She has appeared not only in interviews and documentaries but also in areas that are rather untypical for someone of her generation. Her presence in art, culture, and even fashion has shown that her message is universal and can be woven into any societal discourse. With her style, dignity, and unwavering belief in humanity, she touches people far beyond the realm of remembrance culture.

In conversations, she often emphasizes: "Don’t focus on what divides you. Focus on what unites you." These words reflect her tire less mission to bring people together and break down prejudices.

MEDIA PRESENCE AND PUBLIC PERCEPTION

Margot Friedländer’s presence in the media has increased in recent years. Her appearances on talk shows, inter- views, and documentaries have made her an important voice in German society. This media attention has helped raise awareness of the importance of remembrance.

The public perceives her as an authentic and powerful personality who, despite the hardships she has faced, embodies hope and reconciliation. Her ability to engage in dialogue with young people and share her story has earned her deep respect and recognition. She has been honored with numerous awards, including the Bambi Award for her courage and dedication to tolerance and the fight against antisemitism.

THE POWER OF MEDIA AND THE RESPONSIBILITY OF JOURNALISTS

Margot Friedländer’s widespread recognition today is not only due to her relentless commitment but also to the many individuals who have carried her story forward. Journalists, authors, filmmakers, and audiences worldwide have helped ensure that her message is not forgotten. Without their work – the questions they ask, the interviews they conduct, the reports they write – much of this story would remain unheard. They are the ones who amplify her voice, create opportunities for encounters, and build bridges between generations.

Her story proves that words have the power to touch and transform – if we are willing to listen. "I do not do this for myself. I do it for you. So that you understand what was and what must never be again."

THE MARGOT FRIEDLÄNDER FOUNDATION

In 2023, she founded the Margot Friedländer Foundation to continue her legacy of remembrance and education. The foundation supports projects dedicated to tolerance, humanity, freedom, and democracy. Its mission is to reach young people in particular and raise awareness of the dangers of hatred and exclusion.

A FRIENDSHIP THAT DEFIES GENERATIONS

A striking example of her openness and zest for life is her friendship with 35-year-old TV personality Evelyn Burdecki. Despite an age difference of 67 years, the two share a deep connection. At an event, Friedländer discovered hair extensions in Burdecki’s bag and showed great interest in them. Without hesitation, Burdecki playfully placed the extensions in Friedländer’s hair, prompting laughter and showcasing the joy they share.

A LIVING LEGACY

Margot Friedländer reminds us that history does not exist solely in books but lives through people. Her media presence and tireless commitment are a call to all of us to learn from the past and create a better future. She proves that it is never too late to stand up for what is right and that each of us has the power to make a difference.

In a world often marked by division, her message remains clear and powerful: "Be human." These words are not just a plea; they are a legacy that inspires us all to act with compassion, understanding, and love.
